IgKnighters team members utilize three PTC solutions - first we are using ProEngineer to develop CAD drawings of component parts and assemblies. These drawings help the sub-teams communicate plans among team members and across the sub-teams. The second PTC solution is Windchill - it provides the team with a central storage system for all design documents. We also use PTC MathCAD to develop and share design calculations, such as shooting angles, speed calculations, wheel resistance, and shooting angles. MathCAD was easy for our students to use so it was very effective.
Resources for other teams
The team found that when purchasing manufactured pulleys, it was often difficult to find exactly what we wanted and that the items we found were costly. So we designed and built our own custom pulleys from black acetal copolymer. It turned out to be easy to accomplish and less costly.
The student members of the team used ProEngineer (CAD) to create drawings for the component parts needed to produce a custom pulley system. We took our CAD files to Traditional Tool of Walworth, NY - where we translated the coordinates and measurements into computer aided manufacturing (CAM) files. These files drove the computer controlled lathe to create the component parts we needed. (See the video of the lathe at work making our parts above).

Academic Letter
Students on our team receive an Academic Letter.
The IgKNIGHTers submitted the following information to MCQuaid Jesuit High School to be considered for an Academic Letter.
Time/Attendance > 100 hours per student member
Academically related content description
Requirement for public service or performance- list of out reach activities.
IgKNIGHTers invited faculty and staff to all events. Many attended in support of the team. A McQuaid Jesuit Teacher who is also an IgKNIGHTers Mentor moved the paperwork through the process at McQuaid. Parent Mentors kept the momentum going. The results...academic letters for the IgKNIGHTers. We believe that all teams not only sports teams deserve the recognition of a letter. We hope all teams will go to their schools and request a letter. We are here to help however we can.
